Let’s Go, Moon Fantasia! by Merit Minds Workshop
Ching is a girl who is curious about space and the universe. One day, she learns from a certain scientific website that the moon always faces planet Earth with one side only! Ching hopes to land on the moon to explore the mysterious world of that side that never faces Earth. At night, she raises her head to appreciate the starry sky as usual. All of a sudden, she sees a spaceship flying from the moon. She is invited to embark on a discovery journey to the back side of the moon… The programme will be a puppet theatre including object puppets, shadow play, 3D paper art, etc. to inspire students’ interest towards art and to motivate them to learn more about everything around them.

Wind Concert: Dreams at an Exhibition by the Music Office
Dream of what you want to dream!’ Everyone has their own dreams, and what is your dream? The Music Office Instructors’ Wind Orchestra will show you the music ‘dreams’ of composers, such as excerpts from Symphonie fantastique, Carmen Suite No. 2 and Night on Bald Mountain. Our docent will also lead everyone to find their dreams and bring them home.

Cantonese Opera Demonstration Performance by Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupe
The adapted version of excerpt The Monkey King Thrice Beats the Bony Ghost presents the thrilling story of the Monk Tripitaka and his three disciples in Journey to the West encountering the fearful Bony Ghost. The interactive performance will provide the opportunity for students to go on stage and interact with the characters and keep the story moving. Chinese surtitles will be provided during the performance for the convenience of the students. Introduction to the knowledge about Cantonese opera, including operatic song singing styles, body movements, gesturing, roles and costumes, etc. will be infused into the performance to let students learning the basics in a relaxing atmosphere.

“Blacky” by Pure Box
Are you afraid of darkness? After transformation, Blacky will play with you, be your good friend!
Do you know who’s Blacky? When we close our eyes to take rest, he will accompany us. However, when he appears, the children are sleeping and cannot play with him. He feels so lonely. Therefore, he decides to transform into shapes, so he can play and make good friends with children!
Blacky is an object theatre created for young children. Performers will use body movements to personify the objects, transforming Blacky into objects with different shapes and texture, drawing the students’ attention to the changes of their surroundings. Students will be invited to participate in the performance and interact with Blacky so as to change their impression of darkness from a fear to a warm character.

String Concert: Visual Music by the Music Office
Musical performances are similar to a three-legged race. In order to be successful at either, the participants must possess mutual trust, understanding and be able to listen to each other.
The Music Office Instructors’ String Orchestra will perform some special pieces for the audience. Additionally, you will notice the players’ humour and teamwork. This concert will be both an audio and visual journey to the wonder of music.

The Transcendent Instrument’ Pipe Organ Education Concert
It is hard to miss this ‘King of the Instruments’, handmade pipe organ by Austrian manufacturer Rieger Orgelbau, when you are inside the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. To expose the public to this pipe organ’s amazing power as well as its wide range of sounds and huge variety of tone colours, the Centre has invited two outstanding local organists to host this education concert, in which they will illustrate the origin and evolution, the structure, and comparison with other musical instruments through audio-visual displays and live demonstrations to enable the audience to learn more about the playing techniques and appreciation of different styles of organ music; thus stimulating their interest in this ‘King of the Instruments’.

“Swan Lake” (Excerpts)
As part of the celebration of Hong Kong Ballet’s 40th anniversary, the curtain will rise on the return of the Company’s beloved ballet classic Swan Lake by John Meehan after Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
Filled with technically and emotionally challenging choreography, Swan Lake fuses reality and fantasy with its lyrical pas de deux, ethereal swan maidens and timeless love story. All eyes will be on the bewitching prima ballerina performing the dual roles of the pure White Swan Odette and the scheming Black Swan Odile. With spectacular sets and costumes by the late award-winning designer Peter Farmer and Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, Swan Lake will sweep you off your feet!
