Some say a daughter is her father\u2019s love of the previous life. I say a father is a lovely fool from the previous life. What makes a father and a daughter? There are things they don\u2019t know how to speak out loud, not for dear life; But these are things they know throughout this life. And remembered even in the next.
\nA daughter who is going on thirty calls her father who is nearing retirement age one day to meet and chat. It starts awkwardly at first, for how long – in fact, how many years – have they not done this, sitting close to each other and have chit-chats? Well, the two have a lot to talk about, from work to love, from memories to the future, from regrets to the meaning of life\u2026. And they chat on and on, throughout the journey, spending a heartwarming afternoon together and exchanging their feelings and thoughts. It is no dramatic dialogue, but a memorable time well spent, and will be remembered.
\nClass 7A’s inaugural production seventeen years ago, 73A, tells of a mother and her son on the way to visit the father who is sick in hospital. The action of the entire play consisted only of the dialogue between the two during the bus ride, but the content was enough to touch numerous hearts in the audience. The play was chosen as one of the sample essays for Hong Kong Literature under the Chinese Literature Curriculum.
\nNow seventeen years later, Leung Shing-him (Yat Yau), Artistic Director of the Class 7A Drama Group, has written a new play, daddi, which takes a look at familial relationships from the angle of father and daughter.
