Veteran editor Ruan Wenshan announces his resignation from the<br \/>\njournalism establishment and launches his own independent newspaper to protect the<br \/>\npublic\u2019s right to know.<br \/>\nRuan\u2019s former student Johnny joins him in this fight. Their two-pronged strategy<br \/>\ninvolves news coverage of the missing historian and an investigation into the<br \/>\ngovernment\u2019s clandestine plans for urban renewal that would shatter the city.
