The “Lingnan Music Series” presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department is preparing to delight Hong Kong Chinese music lovers with Zheng Concert by Chen Anhua this March.<\/p>\n
As one of the founders of the South China stylistic school of zheng music, Chen Anhua has won acclaim as the top player of the zheng in the South China region. In the coming not-to-be-missed concert, Chen will not only perform on the zheng solo, but will also take to the stage with his son Chen Weimin, two yehu and pipa musicians, and a typical Chaozhou xiyue music ensemble.<\/p>\n
The programme will include “Riding the Donkey Backwards” (fanxian mode), “Fish Hawks Dabbling in the Water” (heavy six mode), “As the Waves Wash the Sand” (light three and heavy six mode), “Wild Geese on the Sandbank” (light six mode) and more.<\/p>\n
Chen Anhua is a famous teacher and is currently on the faculty of the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, where he is a supervisor in the master’s degree programme for zheng. Chen is the author of “South China Zheng Scores” and has published numerous articles on his chosen instrumental genre.
