“The Marriage of Princess Fei-king”

Princess Fei-king of Kingdom Chong-yuen visits the temple and meets Tsui Yuen-cak, a student stay in the temple to wait for the release of result of imperial exam. Fei-king falls in love with the young man, but Yuen-cak refuses to tell the princess his name. In order to marry Yuen-cak, Fei-king obstructs the two princes from neighboring kingdoms, who want to marry Fei-king, by setting a literature competition and a martial competition. Regardless of the competition, Fei-king chooses Yuen-cak, the new champion of the imperial exam, as her husband. The princes get angry and join hands to attack Kingdom Chong-yuen. With Yuen-cak’s stratagem and Fei-king’s military force, the kingdom revenges.

“Lovers at the Mercy of the Sword”

Twin sisters Wong Yuk-moi and Yuk-fan have been betrothed to Yeung’s and Ma’s family respectively since birth. The war has separated the sisters and they have to pretend as each other under the order of their parents.

Yuk-moi comes to the battlefield to bring Ma Chun-sang, the pioneer, his battle robe. Mistaking Yuk-moi for her sister, Yeung Chi-sing, the general, is furious at Yuk-fan being loose in morals. The army runs short of food. Chun-sang plans to kill his wife to feed the soldiers. As Chi-sing recognizes Yuk-moi as his wife, he agrees to the plan so as to kill Yuk-fan. Chun-sang confesses to Yuk-moi and passes out when he tries to kill her. To help her husband, Yuk-moi commits suicide leaving a suicide note. Yuk-fan comes to find her husband and meets Bak-ling. They are mistaken as spies, as a bomb is put into their luggage by the enemy. Chun-sang is about to execute the ladies when Chi-sing stops the execution and presents the suicide note written by Yuk-moi. At the same time, Madame Wong is searching for her daughters at the site. The truth is revealed.

“Fairy Hongluan”

In order to save the imprisoned brother, the talented lady Lau Hongluan asks for Prince Wang’s help. Hongluan meets Prince Chan in the loyal garden and falls in love. However, Hongluan mistakes her lover as Prince Wang, while Prince Chan misidentifies Hongluan with her sister Hong Lin. Therefore when the Queen Mother grants marriage for them, they are paired with the wrong person. The situation becomes worse when Hongluan gives birth to Prince Chan’s son in the new bedroom. The Queen Mother is infurious. How will they settle the mess?

“The Goddess of the Luo River”

Cao Zhi and Zhen Mi are in love. However, Cao Cao wants to make Zhi his successor, so he chooses Chen Dezhu to be Zhi’s wife. He further marries Mi to Cao Pi. Mi falls into Pi’s trap by asking Zhi to meet her in private. As a result, Zhi is exiled to Linzi.

After Cao Cao has died, Pi becomes the king. He begins to purge his brothers to secure his rule. Pi forces Mi to write to urge Zhi to return with the excuse that the Queen Dowager misses him.On the Copper Bird Terrace, Pi orders Zhi to compose a poem within ten steps, and will kill him if he fails. Zhi accomplishes in seven steps with Mi’s encouragement. After hacking a foot off a tripod cauldron to illustrate Pi the importance of his brothers, Mi drowns herself into the Luo River. Mourning her by the River, Zhi dreams of Mi ascending to the heaven and becomes the Goddess of the Luo River.

“The Princess in Distress”

Having lived as a hostage in Jin since childhood, Princess Hung-luen gives Yealuet Kwan-hung her pledge to be his wife. However, her ship is sunk by pirates on the way back to Song(China’s territory). In the water, Hung-luen is mistaken as Ngai Sau-tin, who tries to drown herself to avoid the marriage arranged by her father Ngai Sze-on. Hung-luen is saved by Ngai Sze-on, but has lost her memory. Later, Sze-on marries her to Sheung Chuen-hau in his daughter’s place. Madame Sheung despises Hung-luen, but Chuen-hau, out of pity, accommodates her.

Kwan-hung, being the champion in the imperial examination for military officers, bumps into Hung-luen at Minister Sheung’s mansion. However, he is wrongly regarded as a flirtatious man and expelled by Minister Sheung. One night, Duke Dik, brother of Hung-luen, comes to order Sze-on to translate a letter from Jin. Trying to fudge on it but in vain, Sze-on has Princess Hung-luen disguised as a man and read the letter. Duke Dik is impressed and decides to marry his sister (Sau-tin) to Hung-luen.

On the wedding night, the two girls each give birth to a baby. Madame Sheung has no choice but to say that she is the mother of the newborns. That night, under the order from Duke Dik, Kwan-hung tries to investigate the strange case, but his true identity is revealed. Facing punishment from Duke Dik, the desperate Kwan-hung sings “The Barbarian’s Song” which revives Hung-luen’s memory and unexpectedly leads to the reunion of the Ngai’s family. Finally, happiness befalls the two pairs of lovers after so much distress.

“Meeting Lady Wei in a Dream”

The widow Princess Ping-yeung has a lover, Wai Ching, who is a slave. To promote Wai Ching’s status, Ping-yeung arranges a romantic encounter between Wai Ching’s sister, Tze-hing and the Emperor Han who passes by Baling. The Emperor has a crush on Tze-hing and rewards her as Lady Wai. However, the Empire’s governing power is controlled by Empress Chan and her brother, who are the granddaughter and grandson of the Queen Dowager. To avoid the Chans harming his lover, the Emperor refuses to bring Tze-hing back to the palace, and promotes Wai Ching as the imperial guard. Yet, Ping-yeung discloses Lady Wai to the jealous Empress Chan, and the Emperor sends Wai Ching to lead the defensive troops as the Huns invades at the same time. How can Lady Wai go through Empress Chan’s trickery safely?
