The World Youth and Children Choral Artists’ Association is proud to present the inaugural 2019 World Choral Conducting Competition, which will take place in Hong Kong on 11 — 15 July 2019. Joining hands with an international and versatile choir – Utopia & Reality Chamber Choir – and 9 worId-Ieading choral conductors in the jury, the competition searches for and aims to help talented and rising conductdrs of the next generation to establish an international conducting career, bridging the gap between professional training and professional life.

Closing Ceremony & Finalists’ Night
The 10-category competition will be adjudicated by a Jury of more than 20 choral experts from all around the world, including WYCCAA Vice Presidents Dr. Brady ALLRED, Prof. Martin BERGER, Dr. Milan KOLENA, Mr. Da-peng MENG, as well as Prof. Ragnar RASMUSSEN, Prof. Urša LAH, Dr. Zoltan PAD, Prof. Zimfira POLOZ and many more ….
The competition comprises two rounds, Category Competitions and Finalists Night. The champion of each category (awarded with Gold Award or above) will enter the Final to compete for the Grand Prizes and Cash Awards, which will be voted upon by the entire jury of the festival.

The King’s Singers Concert (GOLD) – The King’s Celebration
Let’s celebrate The King’s Singers 50th birthday! It’s an adventure that gives thanks for all the music that’s defined their first fifty years, inspired by the unique maverick spirit that guided the original six King’s Singers to keep every performance as fresh and varied as possible. They still share their mission today: the future of music deserves to shine as brightly as it can. It is about savouring the amazing diversity of music and musicians in the world today, holding up composers, songwriters and singers of all kinds side by side to create something truly special.

A Concert Dedicated to Ng Cheuk-yin’s Choral Works
Mr. NG Cheuk-yin is a renowned composer, sheng performer and a cappella ensemble artist. He is hailed as a composer who skillfully blends Chinese and Western elements to this music with Hong Kong characteristics. In this concert, he will collaborate with several outstanding children’s, men, women and mixed choirs to showcase his previous and new chorus works. For the grand finale, Ng Cheuk-in will conduct the choirs to end on a high note.

The King’s Singers Concert (Love Songs): The King’s Confession
Love isn’t always easy. It can obsess us and hurt us, particularly when it’s unrequited or tragically cut short. But when love is good, it has a unique power to bind us together, fill us with joy, strengthen us, and bring us new life.
Love Songs: The King’s Confession is designed to pull at the heartstrings, laying bare just how deeply and variously love can affect us – all seen through the eyes of an unusually diverse mix of composers and songwriters from across the world over last 500 years.
