Art of Nature proudly presents Lam Man Kong’s solo oil painting exhibition, Days in Paris in the coming Hong Kong Le French May, which is one of the biggest cultural events in Asia since its debut in 1993.Please join us for the opening reception on Friday, 31st May 2019, 5-8pm, and a thematic discussion, “Approach Notre Dame de Paris” starting from 6 pm. The exhibition can be viewed until 30th June 2019.

Lam Man Kong is honored as the 3rd generation distinguished France-residing artist, “humanistic artist “and “single-mindedpoet”. Lam has been an artist for nearly 50 years. During his 30-year stay in France, he spent his time flitting from Paris and other cities, and those natural and human landscapes inspired his creation. From the beautiful scenery in Paris countryside to vivid portraits, the artworks showcased in this exhibition are the record of Lam’s daily life in Paris. Especially the Notre Dame de Paris series, where Lam invested a lot of time, efforts and immense zeal. This series absorb the modelings of Classism, as well as the colors from Impressionism, which deserve to be the masterpiece among similar works. While Paris is “A moveable feast” to Ernest Hemingway, Lam has a more keen observation and direct feelings to this city. Color is applied delicately in his works and contributes to the rich flavor of life and poetic quality.Different from the idea of other contemporary artists, Lam advocates expressing inner feelings instead of emphasizing abstract concept. Only the artworks with personal emotions could have lasting charm, which will not be washed out by history, just like the Paris he portrayed.

OFF LIMITS is pleased to invite you to ‘Graffitunes Overflow’—A solo exhibition by French graffiti artist Samee Sam.
Curated by Jessica Wan, the Vernissage will be an immersive, sensory-stimulating experience led by visuals, music and live art to celebrate graffiti!
‘Graffitunes’ does not exist in the dictionary yet to French graffiti artist Samee, it is a theme that echoes with the ways he view, create and combine sensory experiences from hip-hop tunes into graffiti art.
In this solo exhibition of Samee Sam, a series of fifteen works created using spray, acrylic and posca paint on canvas will be premiered. In this collection, Samee explored different mediums to incorporate this overflowing energy into his art. While diving into the tunes of one song and watching its video clip, the artist reinvigorated provoked memories and emotions arising from happiness and love, anger and loss which then is projected onto the canvas.
“As a graffiti artist and a popping dancer, music is the main source of inspiration for me to express my feelings and also to create my moves. I like the idea to see the music in my dance and now in my paintings. ”

“L’Affranchissement” meaning “The liberation of mind, of thought…”. In this exhibition,
Paris-based artist Alan Sik Kyin will present 40 of his recent works which are mostly inspired by the images emerging in everyday life. Chan realizes that the world is represented through what is perceived directly by human senses, and may then be conceived with spirituality or abstract thinking into an art concept. This practice has been reflected in most of his works, either in oil or watercolor. Chan believes that any
establishment of creations in the art is essentially based on communication with its audience, he says, “audience engagement is the heart of a fruitful exhibition”. Honorary guests in the opening ceremony will include Mrs. Michele Deneffe (Consul General, Consulate General of Belgium in Hong Kong and Macau), Mr. Benoît Etienne (Consul Culture, Education & Science, Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau), and Mr. Jean-Sébastien Attié (General Executive Director, L’Alliance Française in Hong Kong).
