The Stories My City Tells Me: My Zheng, My Story
The city is our home, where the most touching and colorful stories happened. Everyone of us has different, interesting and intriguing stories, in which we identified ‘self’, by discovering our possibility and building up diverse and unique character. The influences of the people we meet and things that happened in our lives are always uncertain, though they might become the values of one-self. Using guzheng music as the medium, this concert features an interactive platform for three
siblings to express their feelings and interpretation of ‘self’. The audience will decide on the content and order of the performance. Each piece of music, in the forms of solo, duet or trio, represents a specific scene in their lives. They will share their story of Zheng to the audience, seeking to inspire them on in depth thinking regarding the true ‘self’.
Chan Tin-chi, the soloist, is a local young professional Guzheng player. Through cooperating with different art and cultural institutions, she is actively engaged in various activities and committing herself into education as a passionate teacher. While heading towards her life vision to promote Zheng arts and music, her playing and contribution has been given highly complimentary remarks. She and her sisters, Chan Tin-wai and Chan Tin-mei, learned the guzheng together since childhood, nurturing their synchronization in playing. For them, the guzheng music has become an unique way of communication. Chan Tin-chi has invited her sisters to perform in this concert.

The Stories My City Tells Me: Endurance
Some members of the E Major Ensemble do not know about music until joining the orchestra. At the age of retirement, the music continues to grow and continues to accompany each members to grow up. They yearn for and pursuit of music, still holding it with the spirit of endurance and determination. What does music mean to them? The performance “Endurance” will be conducted by Mr. So Hon Tou. 50 members of the E Major Ensemble will be divided into string, woodwind, brass and percussion ensemble groups, showing their enthusiasm and talent with their beloved musical instruments. It is also hope that audiences can read the unique stories of them from the performances they present.

The Stories My City Tells Me: What Have I Learnt in Hong Kong? The Finale!
A Singaporean moved to Hong Kong six years ago. Here, he leads a simple, possibly, boring life as an academic in a university. He considered leaving his job and Hong Kong altogether, but decided to stay after a highly self-reflexive moment on the March 2016. Just as he was beginning to find comfort in Hong Kong, he was suddenly pulled into a fantasy world in April 2017, where he then realized that there’s nothing he really wants to learn from Hong Kong.
Another two years have passed! Hong Kong continues to have all sorts of issues and challenges. Why is he still in Hong Kong? Did he learn anything new in these two years?
