The project includes a series of activities, comprising drama education, dance, singing and micro-film production. The arts group hopes that all participants and audience will develop their interest in theatre arts, and endeavor to create more high-quality community theatre productions and video works, instilling a positive outlook on life for the whole community through multiple art forms, including process drama, musical and forum theatre.

A Tribute to Theoreau – The Living Green Theatre

Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862) was born during the time of the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century. Seeing constant damages to forests and continuous industrial pollution, he became an advocate for simple living and opposed against materialism and consumerism. As 2017 marks the 200th anniversary of Thoreau’s birth, the arts group hopes to reiterate the spirit of Thoreau and encourage the public to pursue their passion and meaning of life, to reduce their yearning for materialistic enjoyment, and to establish a green culture.

The Re-raise of Ancient Chinese Gods of Honor

The programme carries forward the concept of “modern creation of traditional stories” of the arts group’s outdoors theatre to develop jubilant musicals. In an exciting and happy atmosphere, the audience will understand that life in senior years can be just as vibrant and the elderly can contribute much to the society. To encourage the elderly and retirees take part in culture and art, the programme has incorporated a series of value-added recreational activities, such as “workshop for seniors”, exhibitions and elderly showcase.

Hua Xia Chinese Music Association “Chinese Music Wave” Finale Concert

“Chinese Music Wave” comprises of Chinese music events that help the public to reduce stress, bringing joy to purify the heart and soul. The arts group will continue to join forces with distinguished local performers and present quality music. There will be Chinese music ensemble workshop and open classes dedicated for adult and retiree, set up a platform that fosters mutual appreciation amongst Chinese music lovers under the guidance of professional instructors.
