Hottest name on B-boy scene fires up Hong Kong
It is Seoul not New York that today boasts the B-boys (aka breakdancers) taking the world by storm. In little more than a decade, the South Korean capital has developed into a hip-hop powerhouse, with super-sharp Jinjo Crew surging to the top. Along with numerous national and international awards, the group has broken fresh ground by becoming the first in B-boying’s 40-year history to triumph in five of the most prestigious championships of street dance.
Established in 2001 by brothers Skim and Wing, Jinjo Crew, or “Rising Fire”, quickly captivated the breakdance scene with stunning displays of agility, original Korean moves and breathtakingly intricate teamwork. In Hong Kong, nine dancers and a beatbox master will transpose award-winning battle routines into a scorching stage show that demonstrates perfectly why these performers are the premier B-boys. Combining ingenuity, humour and blistering skill, Jinjo Crew will entertain and astound in a searing paean to street dance.

Following the overwhelming reception to its high-energy show in 2009, the exceptional Georgian dance group returns to impress Hong Kong with its super-vitality and virtuosity.
Speed, strength and agility are to the fore in exciting feats of dagger-throwing and sabre-wielding, reflecting Georgians’ characteristic daring and courage, while light-hearted scenes depict old city customs in fresh ways as traders and artisans celebrate the joys of everyday life. Refined wedding traditions and high-society dances are also given a new appearance, including the regal Samaia, and romantic Qartuli, both timeless classics not to be missed. Together with the men’s amazing point work and women’s graceful glides, the performance superbly combines contemporary elan with authentic folk roots in a dance extravaganza set to delight and enthral.

Only the soul-searing tango fully evokes Evita’s legendary life
Born in an impoverished village in 1919, Eva found her place in the glittering world of Buenos Aires, where her beauty and charisma helped husband Juan Perón rise to be the country’s president. Evita, as she was affectionately called, also won nationwide respect for her tireless advocacy for the poor. Tragically, her rags-to-riches tale ended at the age of 33, but when her brief-yet-dramatic existence was later immortalised in a Broadway musical, and a Hollywood film, fascination went worldwide.
Direct from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Tango Buenos Aires spent two years creating this entirely new tango production, focusing on highly expressive dancers who use the language of the sultry tango to enact turning points in Evita’s life. Numbers range from the newly invented to more traditional lines, including a phenomenal rendition of Boleadoras folk dance. A top live band and vocalist add to the sizzling atmosphere, delivering original works and classics, including Matos Rodríguez’s La Cumparsita and Astor Piazzolla’s Oblivion. A performance that leaves an indelible impression.
