Paquita.Bolero.Carnival+
Kicking off the programme will be the Grand Pas Classique from Marius Petipa’s elegant classical ballet Paquita. Petipa is often cited as ‘the father of classical ballet’. His renowned Paquita sets the stage for a great mixed bill.
Next comes the world première of Bolero, set to Maurice Ravel’s famous orchestral piece of the same name. Created by Yuh Egami and Ricky Hu, two of The Hong Kong Ballet’s most talented dancers and choreographers, this will be a memorable début for the Company.
Last, but by no means least, another highlight of the programme will be The Hong Kong Ballet’s première of Alexei Ratmansky’s charming and fun one-act ballet, Le Carnaval des Animaux (The Carnival of the Animals). Ratmansky is an internationally acclaimed choreographer who is currently the Artist in Residence at American Ballet Theatre, New York.
This challenging ballet will showcase the Company’s seamless blend of vitality, technical precision and regal grace. Not to be missed!

Hip-Hop Ballet “The Roots”
The Roots is a human adventure and a journey enacted by eleven exceptional hip-hop dancers who each contribute their individual virtuosity to the group. Energised by his personal history of urban sidewalks, big tops, boxing rings and theatres, Artistic Director and Choreographer, Kader Attou, describes The Roots as a work that is deep-rooted in hip-hop culture. But although it refers to the origins of the movement, The Roots is no exercise in archaeology or a return to the past. It is a creation of light and air that represents yet another step forward in redefining the boundaries of hip-hop. ABOUT KADER ATTOU & COMPAGNIE ACCRORAP Kader Attou is one of the main representatives of the French hiphop movement and his company Accrorap, founded in 1989, is emblematic of this energy. From local to international theatres, his shows travel around the world. In 2009, littlestories.com was shown across Asia and Hong Kong within the framework of Le French May.
