Undeniably the reigning virtuoso of the violin, Itzhak Perlman enjoys superstar status rarely afforded a classical musician. Beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent, he is treasured by audiences throughout the world who respond not only to his remarkable artistry, but also to his irrepressible joy for making music. He is the unmatched musician in garnering audience attention and bring them into the deep and amazing world of classical music.;Born in Israel in 1945, Perlman has established himself as a cultural icon and household name in classical music by performing to a wide audience. In 2009, Perlman took part in the inauguration of the President of the United States Barack Obama to an audience of 40 million television viewers worldwide. In 2008, Perlman was honoured with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in recording arts, having recordings regularly appear on the best-seller charts and garnered 16 Grammy awards. In the Hong Kong concert Perlman is performing with his long time collaborator, Sri Lankan pianist Rohan De Silva, who has been performing with Perlman in numerous occasions with dignitaries audience like the President of the United States and the Queen Elizabeth the Second.;Other works to be announced by the performer during the performance.

Concert By Ian Bostridge (Tenor) And Xuefei Yang (Guitar)

Acclaimed British tenor Ian Bostridge will team up with Beijing-born guitarist Xuefei Yang in October for a programme of art songs and guitar music from different periods. This is the duo’s first performance in Asia and the concert will also mark Bostridge’s Hong Kong debut.

The performance will be held at 8pm on October 25 (Sunday) at the Concert Hall of Hong Kong City Hall. The programme will include works by Dowland, Britten, Schubert, Argento, Goss, Debussy and Falla, as well as some traditional Chinese songs.

Hagen Quartet

The Hagen Quartet, praised by the UK’s The Independent as “breathtaking in its precision, dynamism and agility”, will visit Hong Kong to give a concert in October.

The quartet will perform Beethoven’s “String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp Minor, Op. 131” and collaborate with renowned clarinettist Jörg Widmann in Mozart’s clarinet quintet.

Piano Recital By Nelson Freire

Highly acclaimed Brazilian pianist Nelson Freire will make his Hong Kong debut in September.

The recital will be held at 8pm on September 8 (Tuesday) at the Concert Hall of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The programme will include Mozart’s “Piano Sonata No. 11 in A, K. 331”, Beethoven’s “Piano Sonata No. 32 in C Minor, Op. 111”, Prokofiev’s “Visions Fugitives, Op. 22” (excerpts), Granados’ “Quejas, Ó la maja y el ruiseñor” (from “Goyescas”), as well as Chopin’s “Barcarolle in F-sharp, Op. 60”, two “Mazurkas, Op. 17, No. 4 & Op. 56, No. 2” and “Ballade No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 52”.

Piano Recital By Imogen Cooper

Recognised worldwide as a pianist of virtuosity and poetic poise, Imogen Cooper will perform a recital in Hong Kong in June.

The recital will be held at 8pm on June 18 (Thursday) at the Concert Hall of the Hong Kong City Hall. The programme will include Chopin’s “Barcarolle in F-sharp, Op. 60”, Schumann’s “Humoreske in B-flat, Op. 20”, and Schubert’s “12 German Dances, D. 790” and “Piano Sonata No. 20 in A, D. 959”.

Borodin Quartet

Celebrating the 70th anniversary in 2015, Borodin Quartet is one of the most legendary quartets in modern history.  Its deep roots to classical music tradition and particularly the Russian repertoire started in 1945, when four students of Moscow Conservatory formed the Quartet and continued through the Soviet times, having closely and personally connected with great composers like Shostakovich and Prokofiev.  Through the decades the Quartet cultivates a broad repertoire of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Rachmaninov and Webern, with recordings of Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky and Borodin become definitive interpretations.;In this celebration concert, the Quartet will perform its namesake work, the String Quartet No. 2 in D of Alexander Borodin, and Schubert’s single-movement String Quartet No. 12 in C Minor.  The concert will conclude with one of Dvořák’s best-loved chamber music, the Piano Quintet in A.
