Travel With My Mun (3rd Run)
Adapted from a real-life story, “Travel with Mom” is about a 74-year-old son embarking with his 99-year-old mother on an odyssey in China on a tricycle. The mother had dedicated her entire life to her son’s welfare and had never set foot beyond her remote village. Seeing that his mother had toiled all her life and had now become so old that she was immobile, the son decided to travel with her to see the world. The son mounts the rickety tricycle that he built himself and chauffeurs his mother from northernmost Heilongjiang to southernmost Hainan Island, going from countryside to city, wide roads to rugged terrain, flat land to mountains and warm to cold in order to show his mother the beauty of different lands before the end of her life. The bittersweet and moving journey of the mother and her son lasts 900 days and covers 30,000 kilometres.

Tearless Honour 2014
Set in World War II, “Tearless Honour” is a story that is full of romance, touching scenes of humanity and moments of insight and revelations. It takes place in a time when China was at its most chaotic, with foreign powers vying to take their share, the Japanese invasion, the Civil War between the Nationalists and the Communists, and the all-out war of resistance against the Japanese invasion for eight long years.
Chan Ka-tung, the protagonist, is a rich scion from Sai Kwan, a wealthy region in the west side of old Guangzhou. With encouragement from his scholar-entrepreneur father Chan Chung-nin, he joins the ranks of the resistance and embarks on a thousand-mile journey of migration, battle and refuge, transforming from a prominent and wealthy young man to a destitute refugee. The journey from a privileged life to hellish conditions sees him gradually growing up and maturing: from initial awakening, fervour, struggle and dejection, to contemplation and assimilation.
Having seen separation, death, betrayal, cowardice and destruction, he rediscovers anew the love between man and woman, the love of a family, and the love for one’s country. In the end, when facing another imminent destruction, he makes a crucial decision to continue his struggle.

Wild Boar
Ever since its most prominent historian disappeared, the city and its culture are
entering into a period of regression.
The Wild Boar is a political allegory of a news media controlled by government and
large corporations. Veteran editor Ruan Wenshan announces his resignation from the
journalism establishment and launches his own independent newspaper to protect the
public’s right to know.
Ruan’s former student Johnny joins him in this fight. Their two-pronged strategy
involves news coverage of the missing historian and an investigation into the
government’s clandestine plans for urban renewal that would shatter the city. In the
meantime, Johnny is reunited with a former lover, and is confronted with a struggle
between passion and guilt.
As their independent newspaper gains credibility, they seem to be fulfilling their goal.
But the hunter’s gun is reloaded…
