In the name of memory, A Place reflects on the present. A hint of white mist coming out of a pot becomes an animated prison constructed by light and shadow. With an unconventional setting and inspiring virtuoso choreography, this is contemplation on displaced love-hate relationships.

“Salty Roast Crane” by Guangdong Modern Dance Company

Crane represents longevity, an auspicious symbol of elegance. But when the crane is roasted with salt instead of a chicken in the traditional Hakka way, what would it taste like? Salty Roast Crane is a work about restrictions, expressing the struggle between chaos and loneliness, restlessness and indifferent, as well as the helpless yet sensitive contemporary. How can one escape from confined thoughts and conscience, and find a solution to break through?

Independance – Hong Kong Focus

To provide more opportunities for independent choreographers to present their work, Hong Kong Focus is presenting six dance pieces by local young choreographers. After performing at the modern dance weeks in Beijing and Guangzhou, the artists are coming home to meet their family and friends. They use their own body vocabularies to create new possibilities in their works.

Independance – Limelight Taiwan

The “New Choreographer” project established by MeimageDance invites Taiwanese dancers who are dancing aboard to choreograph a work at home each year in collaboration with Taiwanese brands and designers. MeimageDance is bringing three works to independence: Limelight Taiwan – works by choreographers Chang Lan-yun (former dancer of CCDC) and Lee Chen-wei (former dancer of Batsheva Dance Company) from “New Choreographer 2014”, and Camouflage, the latest creation by Ho Hsiao-mei, Artistic Director of MeimageDance.
