Cabaret Des Années Folles
It is the end of the night in an old Cabaret theatre in Hong Kong. The chairs are up on the tables. A young local man works for the owner, Madame Bergère, a really old French woman. She has told him about all the people she loved in her long life, all the French artists from the 1920’s and 1930s she admired: Joséphine Baker, Mistinguett, Maurice Chevalier, Fréhel, Jean Cocteau, Edith Piaf…
Through the power of magic they all return for the night to perform the greatest burlesque show in French Cabaret ever! Imagine breathing in the atmosphere of France in a Hong Kong Theatre! Today many of us are under pressure from work and responsibilities, but Le French May believes that everybody has hidden sparkle in their hearts. Let us help illuminate your inner sparkle with a glamorous French Cabaret.

Edith Piaf’s Love Letters
2013 sees the 50th anniversary of Edith Piaf’s death. On this occasion, Princess Clotilde Courau pays tribute to the world renowned French artist by reading exclusive love letters written by Edith Piaf six month after the death of her truly love Macel Cerdan.
A few months after the tragic death of Marcel Cerdan in 1949, Edith Piaf was having a passionate affair with a mysterious man called Tony Franck. From May 1 to 26, 1950, they exchanged several letters in which the artist expressed her love with the lyricism, ardour and intransigence she was famous for. Who was this man? How did this relationship start? How did it end? With her sensual and enchanting voice, Clotilde Courau reads these intimate letters accompanied by French accordionist Lionel Suarez, and takes us on a journey into the intimate universe of ‘La vie en Rose’.

Working for the first time with the young Taiwanese designer Johan Ku, Merzouki also experienced new constraints, such as costumes made from wool that limit the dancer’s gestures, which pushed him to find the rhythm elsewhere, and in doing so, discover a new relation with movement and space.

The Invention of The Cave By Abdelkader Benchamma
A mixed media exhibition by the French artist, Abdelkader Benchamma, kicks off the newly relocated agnès b.’s LIBRAIRIE GALERIE (the only art gallery outside Paris) on 118 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong.
Abdelkader Benchamma was born in 1975 in France. He started participating in exhibitions since his graduation from the École Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris in 2003. In April 2011, his solo show, Dark Matter, was held at the Galerie du Jour, agnès b.
Abdelkader Benchamma is a well-known artist for the great delicacy of execution by using simple and precise lines to illustrate his thoughts. The exhibition is about perception and illusion, the instability of the things, and the capacity of drawing to create an entire environment.

René Burri : Utopia
In association, The University Museum and Art Gallery and Le French May are honoured to present the major exhibition UTOPIA of photographer René Burri’s most significant photos of international architects and their iconic buildings, demonstrating his keen interest in architecture within social and cultural contexts. Burri’s work is often referred to as «constructive photography», and his portfolio of images are considered one of the greatest collections of 20th century iconography. UTOPIA features many of these fascinating images, as well as portraits of influential and award-winning architects Oscar Niemeyer (1907–2012) and Le Corbusier (1887–1965).
