The ocean and the land in front of the main building of Oi! were once connected at the beginning of the 20th century. Since the reclamation works started in 1930s, the shoreline has been ceaselessly moving outward, resulting in the expansion of Hong Kong Island. Fortress Hill was originally named “East Hill”. Its name dates back to when the British forces stationed there and built battery barracks in order to protect Victoria Harbour. Oi! thusly witnessed the centennial vicissitude of Hong Kong Island.

This installation Over the Ocean, Over the Mountain inhabited at the adjoining point of Oi! Phase 1 and 2, carrying the origin story of this land. Visitors on one hand could walk back and forth through the intertwining geometric space, as if it is a time tunnel that leads us to the past. On the other hand, the use of architectural material insinuated the amplification of Phase 2 Development of Oi!. While new art space was being created, Oi! looked into the past as well as all future possibilities.

To further encourage ingenuity of the community, Oi! invited Hong Kong Circus and sound artist Tim Chan along with his team respectively to intervene in the art installation Over the Ocean, Over the Mountain with contemporary circus acts and sound art creation.

When clay meets fire, a piece of ceramic is born. People say that the history of ceramics can be traced back to the moment fire was invented. Ceramics, is even more ahead than we thought in the timeline.

Japanese ceramic artist Ogata Kamio reinvented the technique of Nerikomi, which was firstly found in Tang Dynasty, and arrange patterns of layers and layers of clay in his own modern and illusional style. Over 70 years old now, Mr Kamio strives to create complete new forms of nerikomi art and we are proud to debut his latest sculptural works ‘floating in the space” in this exhibition. The new series of work does not only bring us to the imagination of the future, but also demonstrate the milestone of Mr Ogata’s dedication in his own art

On the other side of the timeline, we have another Japanese ceramic artist, Kazunori Ohnaka, who adds quaint touches to his works and creates a vintage, calm and peaceful atmosphere. Mr Ohnaka has to main series of creations which are the Rusting and Meting collections, representing his projection of ceramics after being buried in earth many years after, all the way to eternity.

In this exhibition, Touch Ceramics stretches the timeline from the previous Song Dynasty to its two ends, to the past and future. We are also very honored to have award-winning florist M.dimension to have floral arrangement workshops on the two artists vase works.

Summer is said to be the most energetic season. Walking on the streets we can now easily find lush flowers. When we look up, we see the bright sunshine shining upon us, and the surface the sea and become sparkling.

In this early summer, we are pleased to invite artists from Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong to present their views of summer and nature through the medium they specialise. Japanese metal artist Sumii has dedicated to creating handcrafted tin sake ware. What is better to beat the scorching heat than having cold sake with a fine cold tin sake decanter and cup? Glass Artists from Taiwan, Lynn Lin and Din Youwei bring you. different styles of glass ware for sake and tea. Crystal clear glass contains different details and textures, bringing a fresh breath to the your table.

If you compare different kinds of pottery works with different seasons, then the most representative pottery style for summer must be the woodfired works, leaving traces of fire that looks like a fascinating nature scenery. We will show three modern sculptures from Tomonari Hashimoto, as well as Kuniko Kinoto’s works which are a mix of clay and the stones in lakes of Kyoto. You can see thousands of different colors and textures on their unique works. We also show Taiwanese ceramic artist Zhang Xiyuan’s woodfired tea ware.
