The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Students’ Union Choir (HKPUSU Choir), formerly called Polytechnic Choir, was established in 1971. It has been renamed since 1995, as a result of the upgrade of our school from a college to a university. HKPUSU Choir endeavoured to promote choral music to every student and audience. Through regular practices, HKPUSU Choir provides a platform for students to share the joy of music, help them develop singing skills, and at the same time promote choral music to the public. HKPUSU Choir performs a wide variety of music such as classical, modern, sacred, and jazz music, with the addition of a cappella music and show choir in recent years. The choir is the first choir to promote show choir performance among all the college and university choirs in Hong Kong. HKPUSU Choir always strives to maintain a high standard of performance quality and has received various awards since its establishment, including Champions in the group of Open Classes of the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in 2005, 2006 and 2011, first runner-up in 2010 and 2014, and second runner-up in 2012. The choir also participated in the 2013 Hong Kong International Youth & Children’s Choir Festival and was awarded with the Silver Award. Later, the festival is renamed to 2015 World Youth and Children’s Choir Festival – Hong Kong, and HKPUSU Choir was awarded with the Gold Award. The Annual Performance is one of the most important events of the Choir every year in which we share music with the public and let them witness our achievements throughout the year.
