CCC & Music Friends

CCC & Music Friends (CCCnMF) was established in 2011 and registered in July 2012 as a charitable institution with the aim of performing and promoting Chinese music among different audience segments of Hong Kong. On 1 October 2012, CCCnMF organised the Salute to Lu Chunling – A National Day Celebration concert at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. Dizi maestro Lu Chunling was specially invited to participate in the concert and a souvenir cover was issued to commemorate the performance. In addition to formal concerts, CCCnMF also joins hands with other organisations to give free district-based performances. Since its inception, CCCnMF has held performances at the Fringe Club, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, etc, and has often attended interviews with RTHK and TVB.

Founded by Chao Chin-chung, CCCnMF calls Hong Kong its home. Its history can be traced back to the 1990s when Chao collaborated with his friends in various music performances in Shanghai, from the prestigious Fudan University to the breathtaking Bund. In October 2010, Chao and his friends, under the name of “CCC & Music Friends”, won a Class Two Award in the International Jiangnan Sizhu Invitation Tournament of the International Chinese Cultural and Arts Exchange Association. The formal establishment of CCCnMF in 2011 not only retains the Shanghainese performance style pioneered by Chao, but also provides a platform on which to showcase the talent and creativity of Hong Kong musicians as well as a side of Hong Kong that is full of vibrancy and diversity. CCCnMF is mainly made up of music graduates of local universities and conservatories with extensive performing experience.
