NoWhere – Exhibition showcases works by Violet Shum and Dave Ho
The exhibition showcases works by Violet Shum and Dave Ho on their projection of homeland. Under current complex social situation in Hong Kong, people are urged to reconsider what homeland means. The work “Shell” is a marine creature that has experienced drifting and stranding, the instability uncertainty towards homeland is inexplicable. The work “Gravity” is a series of rotating installation with mechanical components. The compass on the top of the work would not turn even with mechanical power. The artist transformed his views towards homeland from physical to conceptual, rendering his sense of identity free of geographical restrictions.

This series of physically manipulated images show the artist’s reflects upon Hong Kong’s recent social environment and collective memories. Punch holes are seen on the absurdly pale days, while musical notes connect familiar roads. Waves transverse images, time and space chant an unforgettable tale in dreams.

SAORI x SHAM SHUI PO x PHOTOS
SAORI artists and NGOs members (The Salvation Army Heng On Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation Service, St. James’ Settlement St. James’ Creation, New Life Psychiatric Rehabilition Centre & CCCD) from Japan and Hong Kong displayed their works at different Sham Shui Po landmarks, including JCCAC, Pang Tsai, Nam Cheong Street and Apliu Street. This exhibition displays snapshots taken by photographer Chan Ting Ching, film commentator, typewriter collector. Selected works are printed on postcards as souvenir.

Midsummer 2020, everyone was wearing a mask. Under the shadow of the pandemic, it felt gloomy even on a sunny day. To unwind and meditate, Rainbow Leung and her two students went to the beach to soak up the sea breeze while creating artworks.

Hi! Flora, Fauna – Art Project Exhibition
In exploration of stories about the Gardens and the relationship between human and nature, the Art Promotion Office launched the ‘Hi! Flora, Fauna’ art project featuring 17 artists/ artist groups, including Nadim Abbas, Chan Hay-ching, Enoch Cheung, Eunice Cheung, Deep Food, Impromptu Projects, Human Ip, Sharon Lee, Leong Ka-tai, Leung Mee-ping, Ng Hoi-chi, Gretchen So, Tung Wing-hong, Dio Wong, Morgan Wong, Wong Wo-bik, and &dear, together with our Curatorial Partner (Image Art) Lumenvisum and Music Collaborator Hong Kong New Music Ensemble. Drawing inspiration from the history, collective memories, cultural imagination as well as natural attractions of the Gardens, the artists present their creativity via a variety of art mediums and organise a series of site-specific activities, offering a one-of-a-kind experience. Throughout the artistic journey, you are invited to explore meanings and treasures of the Gardens — let’s share new memories and continue to grow with this place we all love.

Re-edit Hong Kong Showcase
Re-edit is a new and exciting showcase initiated by Hong Kong’s creative hub, PMQ, with the support from Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR Government) as the Lead Sponsor. This exhibition aims to nurture Hong Kong design talents through introduce and showcase their works to major global platform – Milan Design Week. The exposure allows local elite talents to interact and communicate with world-class designers and design brands, resulting in cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary dialogue that will expand the creators’ horizons and elevate their design standard. Furthermore, through the local exhibition, this event also allows the general public and industry practitioners to appreciate their creativity and ingenuity. We want to identify the present Hong Kong in a close parallel with the past and future, and to re-discover a new sense of awareness within the constant flow of consciousness formed in daily life.
