We propagate, because _______.
The population of Hong Kong is expected to be reduced to 5 million with the continuously decreasing birth rate. Aging population is going to be a challenge for society as a whole. Giving birth seems to be the most straightforward way to tackle this crisis, yet is such a crisis a good reason for having children?
One Hundred Thousand Reasons That (We) Shall Propagate Off-Spring is a form of in-yer-face theatre . Instead of traditional narration, the show is more a call for attention and action towards the issue of aging population and childbearing. The two actors are going to lead the audience through a journey of questions and perspectives. From carrying on one’s name to social responsibility or even the universe, the audience is invited to understand and rethink childbearing. The presentational dialogues and gestures is also an attempt to look into the uncertainty of language and data in the age of information explosion.
