Violin and Piano Duo Recital by Jue Yao and Nancy Loo

Description

Internationally acclaimed violinist Jue Yao will collaborate with local renowned pianist Nancy Loo in a duo recital in January, featuring Brahms’ “Violin Sonata No. 1 in G, Op. 78”, Babadjanian’s “Violin Sonata in B-flat Minor” and Richard Strauss’ “Violin Sonata in E-flat, Op. 18”.

Born in Shanghai, Jue Yao was awarded a full scholarship by the San Francisco Conservatory of Music to continue her violin studies with Zaven Melikian. She later graduated from the Juilliard School, where she studied under Dorothy DeLay.

One of Hong Kong’s most versatile artists, Nancy Loo attended the Juilliard School on a scholarship and studied there with Adele Marcus. After graduating with a master’s degree, she studied with Vlado Perlemuter in Paris and Guido Agosti in Italy. She was the first-prize winner at the fourth Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition in Monza in 1976.
