Description
Shakespeare’s heartfelt comedy on the follies of love
transferred to 1900s Hong Kong
Developed in association with artists from
Royal Shakespeare Company’s Education Team
Twelfth Night is a play about mistaken identity, unrequited love and longing for that person you can never have.
It is also about different kinds of love: a love that suddenly strikes Olivia like a sudden illness; a love of being in love like Orsino; a slow intense love of Orsino by Viola; a self-love of himself by Malvolio; and a wise knowledge of love by Feste. All of us go through these different kinds of love at various times in our lives.
Originally set on the island of Illyria – and transferred by us to colonial Hong Kong in the 1900s, we present our version of Shakespeare’s fun and heartfelt comic drama about the follies of love.
Original Play:William Shakespeare
