Description
Description
TITANS is a 60-minute stage-performance directed and choreographed by Euripides Laskaridis in close collaboration with costume designer Angelos Mentis. Here, as in his previous work RELIC, Laskaridis uses notions of ridicule and transformation to explore the perseverance of humankind in the face of the unknown. Where RELIC was a domestic scene of a mortal in a terrestrial world after the end of reason, TITANS opens up an alien space, with gods inhabiting a metaphysical realm in a time before reason—a prequel to the sequel.
Pre-dating the Olympian gods, Titans ruled the universe from before time began. They are among the earliest beings conjured up by the human imagination. Why go back so far, down so deep? To try and understand why we do what we do. What do we truly need? What do we really wish for? Across the globe, we tend to believe in and strive for ideal notions, both of self and the world around us. What stands between these optimal states of being and reality in all its brutality? What is this gap between the ideal and the real? Human weakness? A humbling reminder of our mortality and our limits as a species? Or a titanic failure of an ethical order?
If anything, TITANS pays tribute to every failed attempt—be it personal or collective—to embody a flawless archetype, an unbroken self, a world immaculate.
