Tic-Tac-Zig-Zag

Description

Description

YY9 Gallery is pleased to present “Tic-Tac-Zig-Zag”, a solo exhibition of Cyran Fan Yun Wa. This exhibition features Cyran’s new series of paintings, which follows the consistent theme of his works to be inspired by personal perception of daily life, thus revealing some very intimate mental and spiritual responses to the hustle and bustle of life.

Depicting some amusing characters with playful movements, Cyran’s paintings create a gloomy atmosphere and hence a great deal of contrast. With the use of simple lines, dark color tone and neat coating skill, the art pieces feature exquistely detailed facial expression and body movements. The characters wearing repeated similey and cute faces reveal a sense of unease depression, whilst their empty eyes show a feeling of lethargy; their movements are seemingly intended to be playful, yet suggest moments of hestation and weakness. By applying the above on this paintings, Cyran expresses a profound sense of contradiction as well as helpnessness in life.
