The Sin Family

Description

Description

For young Mr Sit, there is no materialistic need that his parents have not fulfilled. Throughout his primary and secondary school years, they provided him with everything – except peace in the family.

One evening, when he is deeply in “lesson” with his beautiful tutor, the doorbell rings. His mother comes home, soon followed by his father. Suddenly, the family is reunited after a long separation. At this whimsical moment, the young master decides it is time for an ultimatum, and he will settle his negotiation with his parents once and for all.

Celebrated for his outstanding black comedies, playwright Matthew Cheng examines in this new dark comedy the ways our new generations destroy the most stabalising foundation of our lives – families, as traditional values continue to decline. Through some of the uncomfortably common phenomenon in families of our society, the play challenges the audience to reflect on the “realities” of life. Coated beneath the laughter and farcical story is a real bitterness we cannot afford to neglect. Following her memorable appearance in Boundless Movement, TV actress Candice Yu will star in this production which promises to be her most boundary-breaking performance yet.
