The Rite Of Spring

Description

Description

“The music is so powerful, and the desire is so dominating.
A cruel ritual, a combat between the flesh and the will, one is split into two, two is split into four, and the self is torn into pieces.” The Self and The Other Series #3
The Rite Of SpringThe origin of dance is sacrificial rituals. In order to communicate with the spirit for blessing and guidance, ancient tribes would put the body into a state of trance by various means. Is creating dance with the body as a tool a kind of sacrificial rite ? Is the spirit of inspiration somehow related to the spirit of deity ? What kind of spiritual state is it in the going back and forth of sense and sensibility in judgement during rehearsal ? In the creative development of The Rite of Spring, I could not feel the presence of any deity. All I could see and feel throughout the entire process was me, myself. The Rite of Spring is developed from Fissure, a creation invited by E-Side Dance Company in 2015.
