Description
Luo Guangchi, chief instructor at the Jizhou Academy, is seeking a husband for his daughter Fengwei. He informs his students Chen Yansheng, Feng Guohua and Jia Congshan that whoever ranks first in the imperial examinations can marry Fengwei. Congshan buys his official post and title; Yansheng ranks third in the imperial military examination and is the first to set off to return to his hometown. Believing Yansheng’s return to be triumphant, Guangchi weds Fengwei to him. Guohua and Congshan arrive too late. Congshan accidentally kills Xiangwen but plants the murder on Yansheng. Guohua serves as the judge in the case. Although Yansheng tries hard to prove his own innocence, he has been framed by Congshan…
