Description
Description
People tend to restraint themselves, in order to keep their wishes and desires under control, or to conceal impulses, thoughts and emotions that are not generally accepted by the society.
As a group act by three emerging artists – Molly Lun, Onna Yeung and Josephine Lui, the exhibition aim at viewing constraints in all sorts of different angles in relationship of self and others, which reflect one’s different levels of negotiation within these “frames” – Lun examined the social situations of female smokers by taking photographs of them; Yeung built an installation to reconstruct the confined bodily experience to be both an intimate relationship and domestic environment; and Lui looking inward to her very own self, questioning her own existence by painting and sculpting portrait of herself.
With their works of photography, paintings and installation art, the artists each represent their exploration through their source of constraints from the society, an intimate relationship, and one self. Attempting to connect and associate to the audiences, the artists tried to provoke them with reflections of the suppression in life.
