宀 Gallery programming is back and proud to present , Xin Li’s first-ever solo-exhibition, on Wednesday 3 June from 7 to 10 pm. brings you 10 limited edition photographs that compose visual poems with inanimate objects.
Xin Li is a self-taught photographer born and raised on the west coast of Norway. She is a freelance fashion/portrait photographer. Her clients include Eaton Workshop, eye_C Magazine, Avant Arte and Ponder.er. She is also the in-house photographer and Creative Partner at Club Kowloon.
Xin’s photographs have a distinctive style that balances analogue technique with bold contemporary aesthetics. She is well known amongst other emerging artists in Hong Kong and often takes portraits for up and coming artists/musicians.
Her talents are sort out for capturing the souls of her subjects. However, when the job is done, her practice turns inwards to explore her own identity using carefully composed inanimate objects.
Xin describes these works as “self-portraits”, the practice has developed over the years while following a clear style and structure. The result evokes a poem or even a haiku, telling short stories with symbolic imagery using limited elements and recurring rules.
