Description
Despite a predominantly male art scene, the presence of female artists in China has burgeoned ever since the 1970s. They challenge traditional and misogynistic stereotypes of women, continually pursuing new grounds of self-actualization. This exhibition presents two female artists, Chen Qingqing and Xiong Wenyun, whose works refashion traditional symbols of femininity into contemporary icons of modernity.
