A stimulating encounter for babes in arms and crawlers to hear, see and touch the arts
Drip-drip-drip, tap-tap-tap… Walk through gauzy fabric “drizzle” bathed in soothing lighting as you carry your baby into the wondrous world of Rain. Then let a trio of performers gently introduce you and your little one to a magical, multi-sensory space. Here, large fluffy raindrops and cushioned puddles meet a mellow cello, mellifluous vocals, and percussive rhythms, and the very, very young can freely “sing along” and interact with the imaginative environment.
This dreamy Australian collaboration between Drop Bear Theatre and installation artists from The SEAM is specifically designed to initiate those up to 18 months in the joys of the arts. Through an emergent creative process combining art therapy techniques, drama, and music, the delightful show they deliver does just that. First performed in 2013 and deluged with acclaim at festivals across Australia, Rain generates an entrancing moment in time for parents and children to share. It has been performed at ArtPlay and Castlemaine State Festival, Victoria, Out of the Box Festival, Brisbane, and Awesome Festival, Perth.
This show was created specifically for babes in arms and crawlers. Parts of the installation are not suitable for walking babies.
