Percussion Concert By Ronald Chin

Description

Description

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Ronald Chin’s Percussion Concert will be staged in October, featuring his new work for percussion ensembles, “Xiang-Ren-He” (or “Percussions in Harmony”).

“Xiang-Ren-He” was written by Chin as a tribute to the master traditional drum maker Wang Xijun, who also manages the Xiang Ren He Drum Factory. The percussion piece is a mixture of “resounding”, “benevolent” and “harmony”. Themed under “Xiang-Ren-He”, the concert introduces the audience to the traditions of percussion music.

Also included in the programme are the jiangu solo “Loess Plateau Stories”, the drum duet “The Bull Fighting the Tiger”, the Jiangzhou drum music “Rolling Walnuts”, the mixed percussion solo “Flying Stars” (premiere) and more. Also performing in the concert are percussionist Liao Yi-ping from Taipei and the Hong Kong Drum Ensemble.
