Node / The Old Man of The Desert

Description

Description

Connecting dance, light, video and technology, “Node / The Old Man of the Desert” reveals the ultimate reality of the body and the information age. Made in collaboration with butoh and contemporary dance performers, a musician and a team of computer programmers, Fujimoto’s production is an allegorical performance concerning the body and digital technology, reflecting the unprecedented situation we are facing today.

In the Node, a traffic hub where people from around the world come and go, an old man from the desert knows almost everything of the world. In areas ranging from data to information to the cognitive senses, the body becomes a platform in creating perception and meaning. In a time when it is hard to determine genuineness in information, can we depend on our senses in understanding the truth? Is there still true knowledge that can nurture wisdom?
