Mirrors, trust & confusion

Description

Description

How confusing are mirrors?

When you move, how much do you trust the mirrors’ reflection?

May these mirrors activate the dancer in you

Following the movement scores created by Alice Chauchat, the renowned Hong Kong choreographers and dancers Maximilian Chan (Maxi) and Oceann Wong (Oceann) will activate a participatory mirror installation through dance improvisation on 22 September. The mobile installation will then pop up around the exhibition space every Saturday and Sunday till 17 October.

A playful take on mirrors—a dance studio staple—the performative installation prompts visitors to the exhibition to take a closer look at how each part of their body moves in relation to the unusual surroundings, thus challenging their understanding of what it means to “dance”. One could freely groove to one’s inner rhythm or respond to the rich soundscape in the space.
