Metamorphosis refers to the process of some insects undergoing four life stages: egg, larva, pupa and imago. At the end of the pupal stage, the imago emerges from the pupa by splitting the pupal case. Make something out of nothing. From zero to significance.
Living organisms will change themselves through genetic mutation, progressing or adaptation to survive in adversities. Self ‘progress’ is what the mankind longing for. Mind, technology and even ideology are changing all the time just in order to achieve survival of the fittest.
Yet what if the so called ‘progress’ is just an illusion? People think survival is the end but they have been missing the crux of the matter… Progression and retrogression sometimes go hand in hand. Are we moving forward or backward? On the right way?
Adding to Exit, Exit – My Way, and Fly Me to the Moon, actors of Chung Ying, under the leadership of Assistant Artistic Director Edmond Lo, will devise another original theatre work Metro-morphosis. Everything starts from life and we are about to split the pupal case.
