Description
Noting how people look up to Jesus, worship him and let themselves be guided by him, the theatre production asks if that is just because we are willing to be taken in.
In the play, Berkoff, who is known for his macabre humour, reconstructs a “Jesus” who is a revolutionary and a politician, capable of manipulating history and popular opinion to achieve his aims. To fulfil a hyped-up prophecy, Jesus goes about staging his own resurrection as a stunt show with the support of his 12 disciples.
