Hong Kong celebrated soprano Margaret Yim is an active performer on the operatic and concert stage in the city. In addition, she is a well-known teacher who has successfully nurtured many professional musicians who are actively contributing to the local music scene in Hong Kong.
Under her tutelage, singers in her studio garner numerous accolades at local music competitions such as the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and the Hong Kong Youth Singing Festival. Her students have been accepted at many esteemed overseas institutions such as Boston University, University of Connecticut, Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, New York University, University of Southern California, University of Toronto, Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, and Royal Northern College of Music. Some of her current students are enrolled at top local tertiary schools such as the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Hong Kong Institute of Education, and University of Hong Kong of which she is a vocal tutor at these institutions. Moreover, she has nurtured a number of distinguished vocalists from various professional fields.
This concert is a showcase of her students’ talents, but more importantly, it is a celebration of Ms. Margaret Yim’s two decades of teaching. Programme includes an exciting variety of operatic arias, art songs, musical and choral pieces, featuring composers such as Bizet, Brahms, Debussy, Donizetti, Fauré, Gilbert and Sullivan, Gounod, Handel, Mozart, Puccini, Rodgers, Schubert, and Vivaldi. Ms. Margaret Yim will also be sharing the stage with her students for an enjoyable evening of music.
