“Mapping Hong Kong” Caroline Bouquet Solo Exhibition

Description

Description

Caroline’s works depict the landscape of Hong Kong through her perceptive eyes. It comes to her revelation that Hong Kong has transformed into a globalised, hyper-dense, diverse and packed city. These cartographies explore aspects of the physical, creative and spiritual journey’s transverse across time and continents in a unique and compelling way. The distinctively geographical and cartographies overtones inherent within this exhibition takes us in a travel through time and space.
The interaction with Hong Kong’s landscapes is translated through the forms and textures of the ancient and local maps. Maps have been an important interest for the artist, who has made and presented paintings on maps in the past. She says, “We find ourselves through maps. Lines on a map anchor us in this world.” — The collection of ancient maps is of the courtesy of Hong Kong Maritime Museum.
