Lover
Dance/Music/Theatre

Description
Description
Directed by Founder of the U-Theatre Liu Ruo-yu and composed by Berlin composer Christian Jost, Lover is a brand-new creation of music-dance-theatre of international collaborations that deals with the eternal motif of human emotions. Through Taichi’s Sanshou (aka. free hands), Liu Ruo-yu identifies the common language to express the uncertainty and ambiguity of desires between lovers. By the contrast of conservative Chinese poetry and E. E. Cummings’ passionate love poems, a universal value is found between the seemingly distinct, and even contradicted, perspectives to “love.” Rundfunkchor Berlin is a regular guest at all the major festivals and the chosen partner of international orchestras and conductors. The choir is the permanent partner of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The exceptional breadth of its repertoire, its stylistic and richly nuanced sound all contribute to making it one of the world’s outstanding choral ensembles. With a team of about 100 people, Rundfunkchor Berlin, along with the U-Theatre, presents a love epic that travels not only across time and space but also literature and music. After its stunning premiere in Germany in 2014, Lover has caused a great sensation in the world.
