Description
Description
In 1998, news from the small mid-west town of Laramie rocked America. Twenty-one-year-old college student Matthew Shepard was brutally beaten, tied to a fence in a ranch and left to die. He later died in hospital. Moisés Kaufman led members of his company to visit the town and made over 200 interviews, which culminated in a major work of contemporary documentary theatre. Even without resorting to pathos or violence, the production was soul-grabbing and it took American theatre by storm, winning numerous theatre awards.
