Know Your Haydn

Description

Description

Programme includes excerpts from symphonies by Haydn:
Symphony No 6 in D, “Le Matin”
Symphony No 45 in F-sharp minor, “Farewell”
Symphony No 60 in C, “Il Distratto”
Symphony No 85 in B-flat, “La Reine”
Symphony No 94 in G, “Surprise”
Symphony No 101 in D, “The Clock”
Symphony No 104 in D, “London”

Here is the man who is now known as “Father of the Symphony” and “Father of the String Quartet”; who wrote the national anthem of Germany (which was also the Austrian national anthem from late 18th century until the end of World War II); who was once the idol of Beethoven, Brahms and many great composers who followed in his footsteps. But what actually brought Haydn to such status? Music Director Yip Wing-sie will share his success story with you.
