The Hong Kong University Students’ Union Choir celebrates the festive return of springtime with their 48th Anniversary Concert, Journey Beyond. Starting with Gerald Finzi’s unaccompanied Seven Poems of Robert Bridges, it renders a tint of reminiscence and echoes the gleeful youth. Carl Orff’s grandiose Carmina Burana, in turn, expresses the passionate and vibrant colours of lives of young people in Medieval times. This version, authorised by the composer, features an ensemble of pianos and percussions, casting spotlight on the lyrics and the rhythmic quality of the piece.
