Hua-Yen Sūtra

Description

Description

Premiered in 2007 and rerun in Hong Kong and Taipei in 2008, the show will be staged in 2013 as Hua-Yen Sutra 3.0 – Pu Xian’s Virtuous Actions for Awakening. The new version is based on the scripture of Hua-Yen Sutra – The Aspiration Prayers of Samantabhadra for Virtuous Actions – with new arrangements of performance and music. Using live interactions of stage lighting, digital images, language, calligraphy, music and installation to create the Buddha’s Light – the light of enlightenment – and with monastic masters leading the Sanskrit chanting, the show brings together elements of Buddhist chanting and multimedia performance art to form a unique theatrical space for the audience to experience the moving power and endless inspiration of art and religion in the World of Hua-Yen.
