Description

Description

WO CO was premiered Tokyo 2016

Kaori Seki creates tranquil performances with dance choreography. In WO CO, she transcends visual perception and appeals directly to the skin. WO CO was created by taking inspiration from the various states and sensations of living beings: nature, humanity, primitivism, and modernity. Another inspiration was taken by the sensations of this modern world: its fear, its atmosphere, and its texture. WO CO is an archaic Japanese word which has several meanings: absurd, foolish, funny, or presumptuous. Also, the English word “WO” is the abbreviation of “warning order” as well as “wipe out” and “CO” is the one for “carbon monoxide.” The title itself implies those complex meanings.
