The Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra 40th Anniversary Concert will be held on 20 Jan (Sun) 2019, 8pm at Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall. Under the batons of Music Office Chief Music Officer James Leung with fellow instructors of the Music Office Lee Sing-wan and Dr. Joseph Kam, the orchestra and its alumni will share the stage with vibrant musicians Shao Lin (erhu), Yiu Song-lam (oboe), Choy Kwok-tin (clarinet) and Kenny Chen (horn). Concert programme includes Shostakovich’s Festive Overture to showcase the fantastic tone colour of brass instruments; the world premiere of Hong Kong prolific composer, Mui Kwong-chiu’s The Heroes (erhu concerto); Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Four Winds in E flat, K.297b and Mahler’s Symphony No.1, Finale.
