Gypsy Spirit

Description
The gypsy spirit takes flight at this opening concert of our 7th Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival. Dohnányi wrote his lively Serenade when he was just 26, yet already a big star internationally and in his native Hungary. Brahms’ first piano quartet – at times lyrical, dark, brilliant and breathless – will dazzle with its famous “Gypsy Rondo”. You’ll also hear the rarely performed Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion by Béla Bartók, considered one of his most individualistic and expressive works, demanding virtuoso performances by each member of the unique quartet.
