Description

Description

“A folk gem with classical facets”
– The New York Times
“There’s not a finer professional folk dance troupe in the world”
– The Washington Post
“Lively music, shows of strength, tornado-fast spins, jumps, swords, shields and daggers for male dancers, matched with the gliding and elegant movements of female performers in vibrantly colored costumes…a dazzling spectacle for audiences”
– Reuters
Following the overwhelming reception to its high-energy show in 2009, the exceptional Georgian dance group returns to impress Hong Kong with its super-vitality and virtuosity.

Speed, strength and agility are to the fore in exciting feats of dagger-throwing and sabre-wielding, reflecting Georgians’ characteristic daring and courage, while light-hearted scenes depict old city customs in fresh ways as traders and artisans celebrate the joys of everyday life. Refined wedding traditions and high-society dances are also given a new appearance, including the regal Samaia, and romantic Qartuli, both timeless classics not to be missed. Together with the men’s amazing point work and women’s graceful glides, the performance superbly combines contemporary elan with authentic folk roots in a dance extravaganza set to delight and enthral.
