Description
Whitestone Gallery is pleased to present the Gallery Collection, consists of Gutai artists (Atsuko Tanaka, Yuko Nasaka, Tsuruko Yamazaki, Sadamasa Motonaga, Takesada Matsutani, Yutaka Matsuda), who have constantly searched for original ground-breaking styles since the post-war era, and Rakuko Naito, one of the first female Japanese artists who went into exploring the Minimalism art movement in the 1960s in New York. The exhibition also includes works by established multimedia artist Shinro Ohtake, and emerging artists (Jiang Miao, Masayuki Tsubota and Chris Succo) that are represented by the gallery. Crossing time and space, the audience will be able to examine the textures artists create through different methods, such as painting, engraving and weaving, understanding what it takes to create unique styles, as well as how they push forward art-making.
