Description
After performing “Beckett on Stage: Silence & Whisper” and “Beckett on Stage II: Reminiscence & Traces”, Alice Theatre Laboratory is set to stage yet another masterpiece in its exploration of Samuel Beckett’s play “Endgame” in May.
“Endgame” is seen as being as significant as “Waiting for Godot”, and is regarded as a play that fuelled the evolution of Western theatre at the crossroads of modernism and postmodernism.
“Endgame” depicts the life of four people who survived a catastrophe and are stranded in a cellar: one is blind and incapable of walking; one is able to stagger but unable to sit down; and a couple without feet live in two rubbish bins. Struggling in their long refuge, they live with their conversation and the tense relationship between the master in the group and his servant. As the situation worsens and the relationships reach the verge of breakdown, how far can they go?
