This concert will bring you back to the Classical and late Romantic periods of Austria. You will be delighted by Mozart’s masterpiece – Don Giovanni Overture, followed by the melodious Sinfonia Concertante which is a splendid showcase for the HK Phil’s principals. Austrian composer Hans Rott was a classmate of Mahler, who praised Rott as “a musician of genius”. Some scholars argued that Mahler “borrowed” some musical ideas from Rott. You may hear elements that resemble Mahler’s symphonies in Rott’s Symphony.
